Remember Deborah!

THE INVITATION:

We invite you to:

  1. Gather with friends and people you trust

  2. Help each other make it through life

  3. Be courageous in sharing, compassionate in responding, and creative in your resilience together for the good of all.

CHECK IN:

  1. How is it going?

  2. How can we help each other?

  3. Who else do we need to think about and pray for today?

CONSIDER THIS:

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said that she was inspired to become a judge because of the story of Deborah in the book of Judges in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Check out this post from @Women.In.The.Bible for some fun facts about this leader of Israel.

DISCUSS:

  1. Who is one woman you’d want to grow up to be like?

  2. Unlike other military-minded male judges of Israel, Deborah was known as a prophet and adjudicator of disputes. Where have women succeeded in leading the world to solutions when men have led the world into more violence?

  3. Judges 4 says, “She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment.” What’s one solution you’d ask Deborah to help you find in your life if you could meet her under that palm tree?
